Toyota launches production of Venza
12 Nov 2008
The first Toyota Venza five-passenger vehicle rolled off the production line at Toyota Motor Manufacturing Kentucky’s Georgetown assembly plant on Monday.

The first Toyota Venza five-passenger vehicle rolled off the production line at Toyota Motor Manufacturing Kentucky’s Georgetown assembly plant on Monday.

The plant has the capacity to build about 70,000 Venza units a year on the same line as the Toyota Camry, Camry Hybrid and Solara convertible, Toyota said in a news release.

More than 30 Kentucky-based suppliers are providing parts, including seats and glass, for Venza production, Toyota (NYSE: TM) said in the release. Overall, 70 percent of the components used in the vehicle are being made in the United States.

The manufacturer’s suggested retail price for the Venza will begin at $25,975 for a four-cylinder, front-wheel-drive model, Toyota said. The MSRP for a V6, all-wheel drive model is $29,250.

The Georgetown plant employs about 7,000 people and has the capacity to build 500,000 engines and vehicles per year.
